About Raja Koduri

Raja Koduri has spent nearly three decades shaping the evolution of graphics processing, leading architectural programs at ATI Technologies, AMD, Apple, and Intel. At AMD, he guided the Polaris, Vega, and Navi GPU architectures, powering Radeon graphics across PCs, Macs, and major consoles including Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation. At Apple, his work on graphics hardware enabled the transition to high-resolution Retina displays, bringing greater visual fidelity to consumer systems without sacrificing power efficiency.

At Intel, Raja served as Chief Architect and Executive Vice President of Architecture, Graphics, and Software, driving the launch of the Intel Arc product line and the Xe Architecture. He led the creation of Ponte Vecchio, the first peta-scale GPU built as a single package using 47 chiplets, which powered the Aurora Exascale Supercomputer at Argonne National Laboratory with more than 70,000 GPU OAM units. In parallel, he built Intel's oneAPI software ecosystem to unify development across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators, expanding access to heterogeneous compute across data center and AI PC platforms.

In 2023, Koduri founded Oxmiq Labs to pursue his long-held conviction that software should shape hardware. Through licensable GPU IP and open software frameworks — including OxCore, OxCapsule, OxPython, and OxQuilt — Oxmiq enables developers to write once and deploy across multiple environments, reducing vendor lock-in and lowering barriers to innovation. Raja Koduri began his career as a graphics architect at a time when the GPU industry was dominated by proprietary silos. At ATI Technologies and later AMD, he led programs that restored competitiveness to the Radeon graphics business, shaping the Polaris, Vega, and Navi architectures that shipped across PCs, Macs, and major game consoles.

At Apple, his contributions to graphics hardware enabled the Retina display transition across Mac computers, balancing high visual fidelity with power efficiency. These early milestones established Raja as a leader capable of advancing both consumer and professional compute platforms simultaneously.

Intel Era

Leading Intel's Return to Discrete GPUs

As Chief Architect and Executive Vice President at Intel, Raja drove the company's re-entry into the discrete GPU market with the Intel Arc product line and Xe Architecture. His most ambitious undertaking was Ponte Vecchio, the first peta-scale GPU built as a single package using 47 chiplets, which powered the Aurora Exascale Supercomputer at Argonne National Laboratory.

Raja's work at Intel also produced the oneAPI software ecosystem, designed to unify development workflows across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators. This initiative expanded access to heterogeneous compute for data center operators and AI PC developers, reflecting his enduring focus on making high-performance compute broadly accessible.

Oxmiq Labs

Founding a New Era of Open, Licensable GPU IP

In 2023, Koduri founded Oxmiq Labs to build a GPU platform where software drives hardware decisions. Oxmiq's portfolio includes OxCore, licensable GPU hardware IP designed for software-defined compute; OxCapsule for flexible GPU container deployment; OxPython for model portability; and OxQuilt for configuring OxCore-based chiplet designs.

By offering GPU technology as licensable IP rather than finished chips, Oxmiq enables hardware partners to differentiate through memory technologies, interconnects, and packaging while relying on a proven GPU compute foundation. This open hardware approach reduces development risk, shortens cycles, and extends GPU innovation to a broader set of companies and research institutions.

Advisory Roles

Collaboration, Mentorship, and Broader Industry Impact

Beyond Oxmiq Labs, Raja serves on advisory boards that span semiconductor design, memory technology, and cinematic AI. As an advisory board member at ASIP Technologies, he advises on advanced packaging and test strategy aligned with the Indian Semiconductor Mission. As a technical advisory board member at SanDisk Corporation, he guides strategy around High Bandwidth Flash memory.

As co-founder and strategic advisor to Mihira Visual Labs, Raja Koduri collaborates with filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda to shape an AI-powered cinematic platform. These roles reflect his belief that progress in AI acceleration depends on shared problem solving across hardware, memory, and software domains.
